The programme is challenging but ultimately rewarding. <strong>Now, I have both the conceptual knowledge and practical skills to conduct interdisciplinary research.<\/strong><br>After completing the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/pg\/msc-computational-cognitive-neuroscience\/\" target=\"_blank\">MSc C<sup>2<\/sup>N at <strong>Goldsmiths<\/strong><\/a>, I was accepted into the PhD programme in Evolutionary and Organismic Biology at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Harvard<\/a><\/strong>, in the department where E.O. Wilson, Richard Lewontin, and other great minds of evolutionary biology worked. This course has taught me vital research, data analysis, coding and computational modelling skills in R, MATLAB and Python and has broadened my knowledge of the latest innovation in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience. My research project with hands on development in <\/em><strong><kbd>Brain<\/kbd> <kbd>Computer Interfaces<\/kbd> <kbd>(BCIs)<\/kbd> <\/strong><em>looking at visual imagery and imagined speech as BCI paradigms has given me the confidence to pursue the next step of my career, building and developing the next generation of BCIs to address some of the toughest neurological challenges today. Since finishing the MSc, I have co-founded an <strong>early stage Neurotechnology start-up<\/strong>, building a <\/em><strong><em>Fitbit <\/em><\/strong><em>for the brain.<\/em><strong>&#8221; <\/strong><br>(Diane Le, A.Y 2022-23)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/coconeuro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/1348f0d8-4699-4dbd-81d4-9657b52b4999.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1611\" width=\"199\" height=\"212\"\/><figcaption>In Jan. 2024 Andrea secured a fully funded<kbd> <\/kbd><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/scholarships\/esrc\/\">ESRC\/SENSS<\/a> PhD position<\/strong> to study at<kbd> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Goldsmiths,<\/a><\/strong><\/kbd><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"> <\/a><\/strong><kbd><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gold.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">UoL<\/a><\/strong><\/kbd><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-text-align-right has-text-align-left has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f6f7;font-size:19px\"><em>&#8220;This programme has enabled me to significantly enhance my knowledge in the fields of psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Furthermore, the MSc degree provided me with the excellent opportunity to undertake a <strong>3-month internship<\/strong> at <\/em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sonycsl.co.jp\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\"><kbd>Sony<\/kbd> <kbd>Computer<\/kbd> <kbd>Science<\/kbd> <kbd>Laboratories<\/kbd><\/a><em> in Tokyo, which allowed me to put into practice all the knowledge acquired in the MSc within the industrial field and to work side by side with renowned professionals in their professional field. With the assistance of this challenging programme and its faculty, I was able to develop competencies in research methodology, advanced data analysis, and computational modelling. The fact that it offered thesis completion in <strong>collaboration with industry partners <\/strong>inspired my curiosity and passion for health data. It helped me on gaining good exposure to research and quantitative methods. Challenging yet rewarding, the programme delivered training in many relevant areas of scientific life, from technical aspects such as mathematical modelling, data analysis, and neurobiology, to career skills such as conference poster design and lecture presentation.
